The situation

Resurrecting heritage-listed buildings present specific additional challenges associated with renovation and construction.

Patience, considered thinking and the ability to implement the final intent are some key values required to deliver a successful outcome.

The challenge

Working off limited information, Pragma were engaged to restore the main Capitol identification sign. This was originally manufactured in the 1960s and in its present day form, was neglected and damaged. Components of the sign were missing and there were many unknown variables as the sign was not easily accessible to accurately assess its condition and plan what needed to be undertaken.

The solution

Our end product is an accurate interpretation of elements representing the original era, blended with lighting and finishing technology of today.

As well as fully restoring the sign, it was also re-installed to its correct original location.

The refurbished Capitol sign is now the fresh and bright marker for the iconic 1924 building.

Our project was also reported by The Age, Channel 10 and Fitzroys.
